Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath alleged on Sunday that violence was being instigated against Hindus in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district since action was being taken against encroachments made in the name of Waqf.
Addressing a BJP workshop for office-bearers and workers for its Ambedkar Samman Abhiyan starting from Monday, the CM said their party was committed to protect Hindu, while hitting out at the Opposition, including the Congress, SP and the Trinamool Congress (TMC), for allegedly keeping quite over such incidents.
“Three members of the Hindu community were dragged out of their homes and killed in Murshidabad,” he said.
Urging the BJP workers to read the book written by former state DGP Brijlal, with two “Dalit personalities” — BR Ambedkar and Jogendra Nath Mandal — Adityanath said everyone should know how Ambedkar declared that he would remain an Indian till his last breath. “But Mandal, who supported formation of Pakistan, did not stay there,” he said. Due to Mandal’s acts, he said, Hindus in Bangladesh are facing atrocities even today.

“It is the BJP which rose to the occasion while the Congress, the SP and the TMC were silent. The Hindus facing atrocities in Bangladesh are all Dalit Hindus. Neither the Congress, nor the SP, nor Mamta Banerjee, raised their voice against it. Only the BJP did.”
Alleging that the Congress and the SP always disrespected national heroes, Adityanath said when the SP came to power in UP in 2012, the then chief minister issued a statement saying memorials built in the name of social justice icons would be demolished and turned into marriage halls.
“In Lucknow, a university was named after Kanshi Ram ji. Similarly, medical colleges in Saharanpur and Kannauj were named after Dr Ambedkar. But their names were later changed,” said the CM, adding that his government again named the Kannauj medical college after Ambedkar.

Claiming that Opposition praises figures like Aurangzeb, the CM said when “Run for unity” was being organised to mark Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary, the SP was “glorifying Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who was responsible for dividing the country”.
