Woman killed, child injured after water tanker crashes into Victorian kindergarten

A woman in her 50s has been killed and a child has been seriously injured after a water tanker ran off the road and crashed into a kindergarten about 60km north-west of Melbourne.

The truck crashed into Macedon Ranges Montessori Preschool on Main Road in Riddells Creek about 2.20pm.

It’s believed the water tanker hit a pole and then slammed into the playground.

The woman, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

A child was injured and has been taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries to their arm.

The driver of the truck has also been taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition.

A witness told 9News there were “a lot of very stressed parents” at the scene, including a man with blood on his jumper.
