Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray wrote to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday demanding an investigation by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the police into the alleged Mumbai road scam of 2023-24.
It was in January that Thackeray first exposed what he claims to be a massive scam in Mumbai’s road construction projects.
“For the past two years, road works have been going on in Mumbai, roads are closed, and dust is everywhere. But what is even more terrible is that this grand scam is going on to empty the coffers of Mumbaikars in the name of concrete construction. I have been raising my voice against this continuously,” Thackeray said.
“Today, once again, I wrote a letter to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, demanding an immediate investigation into this scam and expressing the hope that strict action will be taken against those found guilty. We will not let the hard-earned money of Mumbaikars go to waste like this; we will stop the ongoing destruction of Mumbai!” the Opposition MLA added.
Thackeray questioned the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s claim that 26 per cent of road work has been completed, insisting that the work is far from finished. “The government and the BMC are misleading the public… The Economic Offences Wing should take up the investigation to uncover the full extent of this scam,” he said.
