Wildfires cause historic devastation in Southern California: What you need to know

LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – CalFire and other responding agencies are providing interactive online tools for the public to stay updated on the Palisades Fire, Eaton Fire, and other wildfires that have erupted during the Santa Ana wind event in Southern California.

CalFire’s incident homepages include maps of the current fire perimeters, acreage, areas under mandatory evacuation orders and those under evacuation warnings.

Incident commanders also publish frequent Status Update Reports, often once an hour, which includes more detailed information on damage, firefighting resources deployed, road closures, situational summaries and links to official news briefings.

Los Angeles County has an emergency operations website with information and resources for all significant fires within the county’s jurisdiction. Residents are also able to register for email and phone alerts.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department also publishes alerts on all active incidents, which can be found here.

CalFire offers three-dimensional maps for major wildfires that allow users to pan and zoom to view fire perimeters and evacuation zones.
