Why Aditya Roy Kapur is particular about eating something before his morning coffee

Aditya Roy Kapur is admired for his charming (on and off-screen) persona, his height, and his great physique. While the Aashique 2 actor admits to not having a tendency to gain weight naturally, he feels that his “height” makes any additional weight evident. In a conversation with Jaane Jaan actor Kareena Kapoor Khan on her podcast What Women Want on YouTube, Kapur opened up more about himself and his lifestyle, including his morning routine.

“I try and drink water before anything else. For the last year or two, I have stopped looking at my phone as soon as I wake up. The first half hour, I don’t look at it. I noticed that it would get me in stuff I didn’t want to get into as soon as my eyes open, interacting with the world, work and all,” said Kapur.

The 38-year-old also shared that he is particular about eating something before drinking coffee. “I eat before I drink my coffee. That’s one good thing because drinking coffee on an empty stomach had led to strife, acidity, etc,” Kapur added.

Taking a cue, let’s understand why eating something before your first cup of coffee is good for your health.

Jinal Patel, a dietitian at Zynova Shalby Hospital in Mumbai, agreed that some people drink coffee first thing in the morning. “This can help them feel energised and prepare for the day ahead,” said Patel.

However, some people find that drinking coffee on an empty stomach can be harmful to their stomachs and cause a range of complications. “Some may experience acidity after drinking coffee on an empty stomach as coffee stimulates acid production in the stomach. This can further lead to acid reflux, heartburn, burping, bloating, and indigestion,” said Patel.

What to keep in mind?

Individuals are advised to examine their symptoms closely for a while to determine if their coffee is severely affecting them.

“In this case, one should try eating something before drinking coffee,” said Patel.

When you eat something before drinking the coffee, the food helps slow down the absorption of coffee in your bloodstream. “If you have noticed that your stomach cannot digest coffee well then you should avoid drinking it. Opt for healthier and safer options like green tea, herbal tea like chamomile tea, hibiscus tea, peppermint tea, coconut water, or even just plain milk,” said Patel.
