As a famous actress, people know a lot about Sydney Sweeney.
They know about her filmography, her relationship history (including a pretty recent broken engagement), and some people even know what it’s like to lather themselves in her bathwater thanks to her latest collaboration with Dr. Squatch.
But what many people might not know about the 27-year-old Anyone But You actress is that she has a lesser-known younger brother, Trent Sweeney.
Trent, who is Sydney’s sole sibling, was recently thrust into the spotlight after attending the premiere for Echo Valley – a thriller that features Sydney and Julianne Moore – alongside the star and girlfriend Samayre Soto.
In 2020, Sydney touched on her relationship with her brother, as she discussed whether it was similar to the sibling rivalry depicted in her film Nocturne.
She admitted: ‘Not so much the competitive side, but I roughed him up and tried to push him to do more.’
Sydney previously opened up about how she and Trent had to live in a Holiday Inn for nine months after her parents – a criminal defense lawyer and a hospitality worker -were declared bankrupt.
In 2013 when she was 16, her parents who are now divorced, sold their home in Washington, with the family of four living in a one-bedroom hotel room for months.

Trent is verified on Instagram and often posts pictures of his garden, animals, and sister’s achievements

Trent appears to have a long-term girlfriend, Samayre Soto, who has accompanied him to Sydney’s events
During the somewhat turbulent upbringing, and after a few minor acting gigs in his childhood, Trent ultimately opted not to follow in his sister’s footsteps – but it is clear that there are no hard feelings.
Because his recent rare red carpet appearance isn’t the first time Trent has supported his actress sister – in fact, his Instagram is a testament to the cheerleader role he plays for Sydney as often as possible.
The 25-year-old has posted several pictures with Sydney over the years, which also include other premiere pictures, promotional posts for her projects, and a can of Coke that says ‘Superstar’ that he tagged her in.
In his social media bio Trent writes, ‘I gotta become a zookeeper,’ no doubt referencing his love of animals that can be seen throughout his posts.
He also states, ‘Not extremely active but you’ll see me around.’
In 2020, he began military training for the United States Air Force, with Sydney showing her support at the time on Instagram with a slew of throwback photos of the pair as kids.
In a sweet tribute, she captioned the post: ‘My little bro leaves for basic training tomorrow. Wishing you luck bud when the going gets tough just remember your sister is tougher than you.’
Trent has since been stationed in several countries including Korea and England.

Trent often stays out of the public light, except to make rare appearances at some of Sydney’s Hollywood events
When he’s not deployed, he likes to spend time with his girlfriend Samayre, take pictures of his cat, and listen to metal, including the song Popular Monster by Falling in Reverse.
Trent has also recently picked up gardening – something he wrote on his Instagram that he used to do as a kid.
Since rehashing his old hobby, he has grown carrots, squash, potatoes, tomatoes, and corn.
It also appears that Trent enjoys skiing, going out with his friends, and streaming on Twitch.
But Trent’s Instagram is full of more than just his hobbies and Sydney.
His social media caught negative attention before due to photos he posted of his mother’s 60th birthday party in 2022, where fans assumed guests were wearing Make America Great Again hats in support of President Donald Trump.
Trent then had to edit his Instagram caption to say, ‘(The hats say “Make Sixty Great Again” btw).’
Still, Sydney was photographed with a family member who donned a Blue Lives Matter logo on his shirt, sparking further outrage.
Trent has stayed pretty low-profile since then but continues to have a verified account.
He often posts pictures of food he’s made in his slow cooker, his friends whenever he visits back home, and of course any accomplishments his sister achieves.
