The first of two summer transfer windows for Birmingham City has now closed
The first of two summer transfer windows has now closed after 10 days of trading.
Clubs were allowed to sign players between June 1 and June 10 to accommodate clubs competing in the Club World Cup.
The EFL permitted Birmingham City and their Championship rivals to follow suit but that window shut at 7pm on Tuesday evening.
A statement from the EFL explained: “Due to an additional FIFA Club World Cup Registration Period introduced ahead of the start of the FIFA Club World Cup, the EFL and its clubs have agreed that the summer transfer window shall operate for an additional ten-day period from Sunday 1 June 2025 to 19:00 on Tuesday 10 June 2025. This is due to the transfer window being unable to exceed a total of 89 days.”
Blues will be able to resume trading on June 16 and deadline day this year will be September 1.
Chris Davies is looking to add quality to his squad in this year’s transfer window after leading Blues to the League One title last term.
Phil Neumann has joined on a free transfer from Bundesliga II side Hannover 96 and Blues have wrapped up permanent deals for loan players Taylor Gardner-Hickman and Alfons Sampsted.
