When Govinda trekked 6 kms with Krushna Abhishek on his shoulders to fulfil a ‘mannat’: ‘He said if my sister had a child…’   | Bollywood News

Actor Govinda, who was very close to his sister, brought up her children — Krushna Abhishek and Arti Singh — after her untimely death. He also took a mannat (divine promise) when she had trouble conceiving a child. The actor prayed at Vaishno Devi temple that if she was blessed with a child, he would trek to the shrine with the child.

However, after Krushna was born, he forgot about the promise till the time the child turned 5. However, trekking to the mountainous shrine with a 5-year-old became a task. In a recent appearance on Archana Puran Singh’s YouTube channel, Krushna recalled the incident and shared, “My mom had raised Chichi (Govinda’s nick name) mama and my parents had difficulties conceiving a child. When this happened, Govinda went to Vaishno Devi and prayed that if my sister will have a child, I will hike all the way to the temple with the child on my shoulders. After I was born, Govinda forgot his mannat. When I turned 5, he suddenly remembered that he had asked a mannat regarding me. It had become a task for him to lift me and trek all the way to the temple. The common public around him had to help him. He had to trek for six hours.”

Krushna also shared that how he ended up living with Govinda after losing his mother when he was just two. He shared, “My mom passed away after the birth of Aarti. She had a cancer in uterus. Govinda’s bhabhi (sister-in-law) adopted Aarti and she went to Lucknow. I didn’t know she was my real sister for a long time. I was 9 when I flew down to Lucknow to get rakhi tied. I lived with my nani and Govinda.”

Long ago, when Govinda had attended Suresh Oberoi’s show Jeena Isika Naam Hai, the actor had shared in detail about his mannat for Krushna. He said, “Krushna was born and there was happiness all around in our home. I kept working day and night for 2-3 years. One day I said, I have vowed to my sister, a child is also born, but I did not go to Vaishno Devi. By then Krushna was 3-4 years old. I made him sit on my shoulders, and looked at Vaishno Devi and saw the mountains in front of me. There was a miracle, as many devotees present there supported me.”
