‘What’s the excuse?’ ask Costco shoppers as they demand return of .99 discontinued item that vanished 5 years ago

COSTCO shoppers have called on wholesale bosses to provide an update in relation to a discontinued item.

The combo pizza was a staple on menus across food courts before the item suddenly vanished in 2020.

A slice cost less than $2 and was a huge hit among diners.

No reason was given as to why the popular snack vanished from food court menus, but that hasn’t stopped fans wanting an update – five years on from its disappearance.

“When will the combo pizza be put back on [the] menu,” one fan posted on X.

“Covid is over. What’s the excuse?”

There has been a flurry of calls asking for the pizza to make a comeback.

“USA ain’t at its best if Costco isn’t selling combo pizza,” another shopper said.

“Please bring back the combo supreme pizza,” a third shopper politely asked the chain.

A full pizza pie would set shoppers back $9.95.

It was topped with sausage, pepperoni, red onions, green peppers, mushrooms, black olives and cheese.

In August 2020, a petition was launched trying to convince chiefs to bring back the pizza.

The petition amassed more than 18,000 signatures but fell short of its 25,000 target.

The creator said the snack “ignited a party of tremendous flavor” in the mouth.

“It is a delectable combination of meaty goodness and vegetable crunchiness,” they said.

The petition creator demanded bosses to bring back the pizza immediately.

Costco membership sharing guidelines

Costco has strict rules for membership use that shoppers must follow and they’ve been cracking down on offenders in recent years.

  • Primary Member Use: Only the primary cardholder can use this Costco membership card. Sharing it for purchases is not allowed as the photo on the card must match the person using it.
  • Household Card: Each primary member can add one free household cardholder who lives at the same address. This person will receive their own membership card and can shop at Costco independently.
  • Guest Policy: Members can bring up to two guests per visit to Costco. However, only the member can make purchases. Guests must be accompanied by the member.
  • Authorized Cardholder: For an additional fee, you can add an authorized cardholder, such as a family member or friend, who doesn’t reside at your address. They will receive their own card and can shop independently.

Another petition was created in 2023 but only 45 people signed it.

They said the combo pizza tasted different from the cheese and pepperoni options.

The U.S. Sun has approached Costco for comment.

Costco members that enjoy a trip to the food court will soon notice a change.

This is because Pepsi fountains will soon be replaced by Coca-Cola.

Coca-Cola has not been seen in Costco food courts since 2013.

And, bosses have confirmed the change will take place in the summer.

The soda switch-up has delighted some shoppers, but infuriated others.

“They should stick with Pepsi,” one member said.

While others claimed Pepsi cola is gross and branded the change a good move on Costco’s part.
