Here’s a look at what’s open and closed on Monday, Family Day in Ontario. If in doubt, it’s always best to check ahead. (The statutory holiday is not observed in Quebec.)
Shopping:
Rideau Centre and Tanger Outlets are open on Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. All other malls are closed. Some shops and stores in areas such as the ByWard Market may be open. Best to check ahead.

Grocery stores
The following groceries are open Monday:
Farm Boy, Rideau Centre; Loblaws stores on Rideau Street and Isabella Street; Metro stores on Rideau Street and in the Glebe; Whole Foods at Lansdowne.
LCBO outlets and Beer Store locations are closed
OC Transpo
Transpo buses and O-Train Lines 1, 2 and 4 will run on a normal weekday schedule. Regular Para Transpo trips are cancelled. More on their website: Family Day Service 2025
Garbage
Garbage collection, curbside green bin and recycling service is moved to Tuesday. Collection will be delayed by one day all week.
Trail Road Waste Facility is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
City service centres
Ottawa’s 3-1-1 Contact Centre will be open for urgent matters only on Monday.
ServiceOttawa’s Client Services, Provincial Offences Counters, Business Licensing Centre, Spay and Neuter Clinic are all closed.
Closed: Municipal child care centres, Ottawa Public Library branches, Sexual Health Clinic and satellite clinics will be closed, dental clinics, and Parenting in Ottawa drop-ins.
Museums
OPEN: Canadian Museum of Nature, Agriculture and Food, Science and Technology, War Museum, Museum of History, National Gallery of Canada. Check ahead for hours.
