Riyadh: One of the most discussed issues after Donald Trump took the office of US President is Abraham Accords. Now it is expected that Saudi Arabia will also join the Abraham Accord. Under this, Israel’s relations with many Arab countries including the UAE have been normalized. However, Saudi Arabia, the major power in West Asia, has not recognized Israel. In such a situation, Donald Trump wants to bring Saudi into it for the ‘full success’ of the Abraham Accords. This agreement can become a bridge of friendship between Saudi and Israel.

It is believed that in the year 2023, Saudi Arabia and Israel had reached very close to friendship. This was broken by Hamas’s attack in Israel and then the Israeli army waging war in Gaza. In the midst of the bombing of the Palestinians, the Saudis pulled out of proceeding with Israel’s friendship. At the same time, Donald Trump wants to complete the unfinished work of his first term by advancing the Abraham Accord. He will try to persuade Saudi for this.

Countries like Bahrain, UAE have signed

In September 2020, Israel, Bahrain and the UAE signed the Abraham Accord at the White House. Later, Morocco and Sudan also recognized Israel. Soon after being sworn in for a second term, Trump expressed hope that Saudi Arabia would join the Abraham Accords. Saudi Arabia has made recognising Palestine a condition for recognising Israel, but a ceasefire in Gaza could pave the way for it to move in the direction of the Abraham Accords.

Saudi Arabia’s recognition can give Israel great relief. After Saudi Arabia, efforts will be made to do the same for countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Libya and Algeria. This will also increase Israel’s acceptance in the Muslim world. Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Indonesia do not recognize Israel.

What are the Abraham Accords?

The US-brokered agreement with Israel of the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Sudan and Bahrain in 2020 is called the ‘Abraham Accord’. Through this agreement, UAE and Bahrain restored their diplomatic relations with Israel. The deal ended decades of Israeli boycott of the Gulf countries.
