One of the students, Shivadarshini, has emerged as a breakout star. In another video that went viral a few months ago, where students were asked to share affirmations, she says, “Shivadarshini believes in herself.” That single moment melted hearts online.

The Internet couldn’t get enough. “I’m obsessed with everyone,” one user wrote. Another said, “Shivadarshini has finally started believing in herself.” A third commented, “Why do they sound like minions?” while another wrote, “Scroll karte karte apni class mein aa gaya” (Scrolling brought me back to my own classroom).

While the song’s sudden popularity in India is largely due to its Tamil-like lyrics, Anan Ta Pad Chaye actually originates from Thai comedian-singer Noi Chernyim. The lyrics are reportedly drawn from a traditional Thai chant, which gained renewed popularity after Indonesian artist Niken Salindry performed it in her shows in 2019.
