The village of Blatten in the Lötschental valley was nearly wiped out, with 90% of it destroyed after a huge slab broke off the Birch Glacier on Wednesday.
Authorities had evacuated around 300 residents as well as livestock earlier this month, fearing the glacier’s collapse.
A 64-year-old man remains missing, and rescue teams are using drones with thermal cameras in the search.
The landslide buried parts of the Lonza River and coated homes in thick mud.
