Uttarakhand: Focus on GYAN in Pushkar Singh Dhami govt’s Rs 1.01-lakh crore budget | India News

The Uttarakhand government Thursday tabled the budget of Rs 1.01 lakh crore for the financial year 2025-26, where Finance Minister Prem Chand Aggarwal said it is 13% more than the estimated budget of 2024-25.

A 16.66% increase has been recorded for funds allocated for schemes under the gender budget at Rs 16,961.32 crore. While the capital outlay for the fiscal year is pegged at Rs 14,763 crore, Rs 44,220 crore has been allocated for capital expenditure as opposed to last fiscal year’s revised estimates of Rs 31,538 crore.

This year’s budget will focus on four groups GYAN – Gareeb, Yuva, Annadatta, Narishakti (Poor, youth, farmers, women), the minister said. He said Rs 1,811 crore has been allotted for various pension schemes under social security; Rs 918 crore for subsidies; Rs 600 crore for the Annaparti Yojana; Rs 261 crore for urban and rural housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Rs 25 crore grant for EWS housing. The government has allocated Rs 63 crore for upgrading ITIs under the Tata Technologies model; Rs 178.83 crore under the Right to Education Act; Rs 59.41 crore for free textbooks for students from Class 9 to 12; Rs 23 crore for free shoes and bags for students from Class 1 to 8; and Rs 40 crore for various scholarships.

The budget includes Rs 85 crore under the Deendayal Upadhyay Cooperative Farmer Welfare Scheme, Rs 42.18 crore for the farmer pension scheme and Rs 15 crore under the House of Himalayas Initiative.

Funds have been chalked out for schemes like Rs 157 crore for Nanda Gaura scheme for families with not more than two daughters. Funds have also been allocated for Child Nutrition Scheme and Mahalaxmi Kit Scheme.
