Trump has also beefed up security at the US-Mexico border, which is the hub for illegal immigration in the country.
Trump’s ultimatum to Vladimir Putin: In a bid to end the conflict in Ukraine, US President Donald Trump issued an ultimatum to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The US President told Putin to “end this ridiculous war”, otherwise he will impose high tariffs and even more sanctions on Russia. Russia has not yet responded to the remarks, however, Putin has continually said that he is willing to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine.
Jaishankar on bilateral ties under Trump administration: MEA S Jaishankar, who was given a front row seat in Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony, said that the new administration in the US is clearly prioritising its bilateral ties with India. While speaking to the media, Jaishankar said, “To share my overall impressions, I would say, first, it was evident that the Trump administration was very keen to have India present at the inaugural. This underscores their clear prioritization of the bilateral relationship.”
