Urvashi Rautela clarifies her temple remark, blames people for ‘not listening properly’: ‘Before making baseless allegations…’ | Bollywood News

Actor Urvashi Rautela has reacted to the backlash she faced for claiming that there was a temple in her name in Uttarakhand. In a statement, Urvashi’s team said that her words were twisted and “people don’t even listen to things properly”.

The actor’s team released a statement which read. “Urvashi Rautela said that there is a temple in my name in Uttarakhand, not Urvashi Rautela’s temple. Now people don’t even listen to things properly; just hearing ‘Urvashi’ or ‘temple,’ they assumed that people worship Urvashi Rautela. Listen to this video properly and then speak (sic).”

It further read, “It is essential that before making baseless allegations or derogatory comments against any individual, the facts are thoroughly verified. Everyone in society should treat each other with respect and understanding so that everyone’s rights can be protected (sic).”

The controversy started earlier this week when during an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Urvashi Rautela claimed that she has a temple in Uttarakhand, next to the Badrinath temple. The actor had said, “There is a temple in my name in Uttarakhand. If one visits Badrinath, there is a ‘Urvashi temple’ right next to it.” When questioned if people go to the temple to worship and seek blessings, she laughed and replied, “Ab mandir hai toh woh hi toh karenge (It’s a temple, they will do that).”

Following the comments, two religious organisations in Uttarakhand have submitted representations to the police against Urvashi Rautela. Several people have also requested the government to take action against her for hurting religious sentiments.
