Close on the heels of busting a gang involved in duping life insurance firms, Sambhal police on Monday said they have arrested four men who are part of an inter-state gang involved in defrauding insurance firms by selling tractors from different states on forged documents.
“The gang operated by financing the tractors through insurance companies and later selling them without submitting the loan amount. They used to create forged documents of the tractors and would scam the insurance companies,” Superintendent of Police (Sambhal) Krishna Kumar Bishnoi said.
“Those arrested have been identified as Rakesh, 52, a resident of Sambhal; Chhatrapal, a resident of Badaun; Abdul Kadir, 25; and Ahsan, both residents of Moradabad,” Bishnoi added.
According to the officials, the members of the gang were caught following the arrest of a person who was a part of the inter-state life insurance gang.
The Sambhal Police had busted an inter-state insurance gang last month, in which 20 people allegedly involved in issuing fake insurance policies were arrested.
“We have recovered 22 tractors along with 26 RCs of different states. The gang members were illegally selling the tractors while their loans were not paid fully,” said Additional Superintendent of Police Anukriti Sharma.
Police have recovered several RCs of different states including eight from Chattisgarh, four each from Orissa and Bihar, and five each from Assam and West Bengal.
