A car was also left with a smashed windscreen at the scene and was being inspected by Serious Collision Unit officers, along with the scooter which had been left on the ground in the middle of the road and a learner driver vehicle.
Officers were seen taking images of the scene within the cordon on Wednesday night as part of investigations. An air ambulance was also scrambled to the scene and landed nearby.
Pictures from the scene of the incident showed a large cordon in place, with multiple ambulances and police vehicles racing to the area. Traffic was diverted as tram services were also suspended.
Bee Network posted: “Due to a road traffic collision, there is no tram service operating between Sale Water Park and Martinscroft.”
The area was taped off beside a crossing near to the Lidl and Tesco supermarket. The road was blocked between Timpson Road and A560 Altrincham Road.
Further details about the collision or condition of those involved have not been confirmed by Greater Manchester Police.
