The two jets arrived amid Turkey’s ongoing talks for the purchase of Eurofighter jets. They had participated in an exercise in Qatar and later headed to Turkey for inspection.

Turkey is keen to acquire Eurofighter jets and it seems the country is making headway with a positive approach.
According to Eurasian Times, Two Eurofighter jets touched down at Mürted Air Base in Ankara on December 18. The jet arrived at the airbase for inspection by the Turkish officials.
The two jets arrived amid Turkey’s ongoing talks for the purchase of Eurofighter jets. They had participated in an exercise in Qatar and later headed to Turkey for inspection.
On December 14, Turkish Defense minister Yaşar Güler had announced that the two jets will be arriving for a close inspection as Turkey is considering acquiring the jets.
He had also divulged that the negotiations of the Eurofighter typhoons were on track and the talks are heading with a positive approach for a purchase.
The Eurofighter Typhoons are fourth generation European fighter jets and it has been developed by four countries namely, The UK, Germany, Italy and Spain. The production of these fighter jets were led by Airbus, BAE systems, and Leonardo.
UK Minister of State for Defence Procurement, Maria Eagle, Turkey’s Air Force Commander General Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu, Deputy Minister Şuay Alpay, and other military officials welcomed the two Eurofighter typhoons at Mürted Air Base.
Turkey was in talks for the purchase of Eurofighter typhoons since last year and it has been learnt that it will order 40 fighter jets.
Turkey’s move to purchase the fighter jets faced an obstacle. According to the consortium’s export approval rules, it is mandatory that partner nations must give their approval for sale. This time Germany has become a hurdle for Turkey which did not give its approval.
But , as per reports surfaced in November, Germany was reconsidering its stand on Turkey’s acquisition request and it is being reportedly said the country will soon lift its ban on sale.
