Trump’s threats violate international law: Canadian ambassador

PARIS — The Canadian ambassador to France says threats by U.S. President Donald Trump to invade another country violate international law.

Trump also said again Sunday that he wants to see Canada become a U.S. state, after being asked about Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s recent comments saying that Trump is not joking.

The U.S. president is expected to formally announce 25 per cent tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports on Monday, including those coming from Canada.

Dion says Canada and European countries are working on a cohesive strategy to address tariff threats from the United States.
