Trump envoy Steve Witkoff is in Russia again, Kremlin says

U.S special envoy Steve Witkoff flew to Russia on Friday, the Kremlin said.

According to state media, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the trip by President Trump’s envoy, but did not confirm whether he would meet with President Vladimir Putin.

The Russian president’s investment envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, met with Witkoff in St Petersburg, Reuters reported, citing the state-run TASS news agency.

This is Witkoff’s third visit to the country since Mr. Trump returned to the White House. He met with Putin during the two previous trips.

This one comes a day after a dual U.S.-Russian national, Ksenia Karelina, who had been sentenced to 12 years in prison in Russia, was exchanged for Arthur Petrov, who was accused of forming a global smuggling spy ring.

Mr. Trump has been pushing for an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine and has previously publicly criticized both Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Putin.
