Trio from Tricity in top 100: ‘consistent study, hard work key to success’ | Chandigarh News

Three students from the Tricity secured ranks on the All India Rank (AIR) top 100 list of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main Session 2 examination, the results for which were declared on Saturday.

The three toppers are Arnav Jindal, the Chandigarh topper who secured AIR 36 rank; Piusa Das, the Punjab State topper who secured AIR 80 rank; and Ranveer Singh Virdi, who secured AIR 97 rank.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the JEE-Main Session One Paper 1 (BE/BTech) on January 22, 23, 24, 28 and 29. The JEE Main Session Two Exam was conducted from April 4 onwards. The best scores of both exams are used to compile the All India Ranks.

The top 2.5 lakh candidates will further be eligible to appear in the JEE-Advanced exam, a one-stop test to get admission to the 23 premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). It is also applicable for admissions to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) participating through the Central Seat Allocation Board.

Punjab Engineering College (PEC), University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology (CCET) and Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA) in Chandigarh accept JEE-Main scores for admission to engineering courses.

Arnav is a student of DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, Chandigarh. Arnav’s father Deepak Jindal is a businessman, and his mother Ritu Aggarwal is a teacher. His sister Jhanvi is pursuing her MBBS.

Sharing his success mantra, Arnav said that he studied for 13-14 hours daily and would focus mostly on quality study material.

Arnav said, “Consistency in study and following teachers’ guidance help achieve the goal.”

However, with study, he has also been taking out some time for his hobbies like singing and playing basketball.

Piusa is from Narayana e-Techno School in Mohali. Piusa said that he aimed for Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay.

Piusa’s father Prantik Das is a marine engineer with the merchant navy and mother Sujata Das is a homemaker. His sibling, Debanjali Das is pursuing her MBBS.

A resident of Mohali, Piusa said that he studied for around 14 hours daily.

Talking about his success mantra, he said, “Consistency and hard work is the key to success.”

Piusa said that he came to Chandigarh from West Bengal to study in Class XI at a better institute. “One must follow the routine teaching and practise what is learnt in the classes,” he said.

Ranveer’s achievement is an extension of his earlier success in Session 1, where he scored 99.99 percentile, and also qualified for Orientation cum Selection Camp (OCSC) in chemistry.

The son of a software engineer father and an assistant professor mother (at Dev Samaj College), Ranveer credited his success to consistent study and conceptual clarity.

Sharing his strategy to excel in JEE, Ranveer said, “One should not panic during exams and study in slots for better results. I would study for 10-12 hours daily.”

Ranveer, who aimed for IIT-Bombay, said, “I want to be an innovator pushing boundaries of what robots can do and for that, I need to be the best.”

Talking about his motivation, Ranveer said, “In my family, everyone is in computer science, creating an atmosphere for study and making a goal towards the field of technology. Making my parents proud was also my motivation.”

Giving a message to IIT aspirants, he said, “Never lose hope and keep working hard. Consistent stay and not getting demotivated are the mantras for success.”
