Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will address two rallies in poll-bound Haryana on Thursday.
Gandhi’s rallies at Asandh and Barwala constituencies come days after party president Mallikarjun Kharge reportedly intervened to settle differences between warring factions.
The polling for the 90-member Haryana assembly will be held on October 5 and results on October 8.
In context: Former Haryana Congress chief Kumari Selja’s absence from campaigning and key party events had raised speculations about her next move and had raised eyebrows. Selja’s last campaign event was on September 11 in support of Shalley Chaudhary, the Congress’s candidate in the Naraingarh Assembly constituency, and Shamsher Singh Gogi, the party’s Assandh nominee.

Shah to address five rallies in J&K, Rajnath in Jharkhand
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday will lead the BJP’s campaign for the phase 3 polls in the Union Territory.
Shah will address five rallies. He will begin the day with a rally in Chenani and proceed to address a meeting at Udhampur. He will then address rallies in Bani and Jasrota before ending the day with an address to a public gathering in Madh.
Phase three of the Jammu and Kashmir polls will be held on October 1.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address a public meeting in Dhanbad of Jharkhand.
PM Modi to inaugurate underground Metro in Pune
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Pune on Thursday where he will flag off the Metro train scheduled to run from District court to Swargate, Pune and inaugurate, lay the foundation stone and dedicate to the nation various projects worth over Rs. 22,600 crore.
To enable ease of driving, PM will launch the Way Side Amenities for truck drivers at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra; Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab; Songadh, Gujarat; Belagavi and Bangalore Rural, Karnataka.
The Prime Minister will also dedicate to the nation 1500 E20 (20% ethanol blended) petrol retail outlets worth around Rs 225 crore. He will also inaugurate the Solapur Airport which would significantly improve connectivity. The existing terminal has been revamped to serve around 4.1 lakh passengers annually.
Nadda in Odisha and Chhattisgarh
BJP national president and Union Health Minister J P Nadda on Thursday will be on a tour of Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
In Odisha’s Khordha, he will pay tributes to Dr B R Ambedkar and will launch the party’s membership drive in the district.
He will then proceed to Raipur in Chhattisgarh where he will pay tributes to Rani Durgawati before interaction with students and participating in the BJP membership drive.
President Murmu in Siachen
President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday will visit the Siachen base camp and interact with the troops posted there, the Rashtrapati Bhavan has said.
“The President of India, Droupadi Murmu will visit Siachen Base Camp tomorrow (September 26, 2024) and interact with the troops posted there,” the Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
Murmu will be the country’s third president after former Presidents A P J Abdul Kalam and Ram Nath Kovind to visit Siachen, the world’s highest battlefield, which is located in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Tipra Motha rally in solidarity with Bangladeshi minorities
Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Debbarma on Wednesday said his party, an ally of the BJP, will organise a rally on Wednesday in South Tripura’s Sabroom in solidarity with the minority communities in Bangladesh who were being persecuted.
“I call upon the people to join the solidarity rally against the atrocities on minorities in Bangladesh. The minorities in Bangladesh have been systematically attacked so that they can be driven out of their motherland. If we remain silent, the torture will continue,” he said.
He urged the Centre to take up the issue at the United Nations.
Stormy Delhi Assembly session on the cards
The Delhi Assembly’s two-day session, which will begin on Thursday, is likely to be stormy as Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta along with other BJP MLAs in a press conference on Wednesday claimed there are several issues that need to be addressed in the upcoming session.
“We would like to know from Arvind Kejriwal how he ran the Delhi government from the jail. As no cabinet meeting took place, no assembly session took place, he could not sign any file,” said Gupta.
The BJP demands accountability for the deaths of 50 people, who died by drowning and electrocution due to the government’s negligence, he added.
