‘This isn’t a sangeet’: Fashion influencer criticises Bollywood actors for seeking ‘aashirwad’ during ramp walk | Trending News

Fashion content creator Ishita Mangal has sparked a conversation on social media after she criticised Bollywood celebrities for what she called “disrespectful behaviour,” often ignored as “sanskar,” during fashion shows. In a bold post on Instagram, Mangal called out actors, including Ranveer Singh and Siddharth Malhotra, for treating runway events like social gatherings and family reunions.

She shared a video compilation showing several actors violating the standard runway protocol. In the viral video, Ranveer Singh is seen pausing mid-walk to kiss Deepika Padukone on the cheek, Sidharth Malhotra stops to greet veteran actress Zeenat Aman, and Nitanshi Goel bends down to seek blessings from Hema Malini.

Tagging these gestures as unnecessary and disruptive, Mangal questioned the growing trend of stars engaging in casual interactions while walking the ramp. “I am officially done with Indian actors using fashion shows as family reunions. What’s with the blessing tour mid-ramp walk? Touching feet, meet and greet, casual chit chats. I am confused. Are we at a sangeet or a fashion show?” she said.

While she acknowledged the importance of showing respect to senior stars, Mangal emphasised that such gestures could be better timed. “Respect and acknowledgement are great, but maybe showcase culture or values before or after the event,” she said.

Mangal also spoke about the professional stakes involved in a fashion show. She highlighted that designers, stylists, choreographers, and media professionals work under strict timelines, often rushing to multiple shows in a single day. “Designers pay big money for these events. Stylists, choreographers, models, and media people: they are all running on a tight timeline. Most of them have another show to run to after it. This isn’t just about disrespecting the designer’s vision, it is about wasting everyone’s time, including the audience,” she said.

Festive offer

Concluding the video, Mangal said, “We love our actors and the stardom that they have built, but the only star on a runway show is a designer. You wouldn’t randomly start touching people’s feet in the middle of a movie scene, right? Well, this is a one-take shot. So stop this attention-seeking behaviour.”

Several fashion aficionados jumped into the conversation, agreeing with Mangal. Many also emphasised the PR campaign run by celebrities. “Also i think it’s high time that they should hire an actual model rather than any actor . Like let them do there job and you do your job,” a user wrote.

“Seriously, very unprofessional when they do it mid-runway,” another user commented. “Finally someone addressed the issue,” a third user said.
