UPSC is considered one of the most toughest competitive examinations in the country. Every year, thousands of aspirants appear for this examination, but only a few can pass it and become administrative officers. These aspirants have to study day and night to prepare for it. But, there’s one woman who started off her career in the entertainment industry as an actress but later became an IAS officer by clearing UPSC. Despite having a tremendous career in acting, she showed her determination and was successful.
This actress quit industry to fulfill her father’s dreams
We are talking about none other than HS Keerthana, former Kannada actress, who left showbiz and pursued her career in the administrative services. Keerthana was a popular child artist who appeared in many TV shows including, Karpoorada Gombe, Ganga-Yamuna, Muddina Aliya, Upendra, A, Kanoor Heggadati, Circle Inspector, O Mallige, Lady Commissioner, Habba, Dore, Simhadri, Janani, Chiguru, and Putani Agent. She has acted in more than 32 films and gained huge popularity for her adorable acting, which helped her win National and State Awards.
Keerthana was very much active in the Kannada film industry till the age of 15. Later, she went on to concentrate on her studies and decided to fulfill the dreams of her father. Before starting her preparations for UPSC, she appeared for Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) exam in 2011 and passed the exam successfully.
After clearing it, she served as a KAS officer for two years and later decided to pursue UPSC and started her preparations. Reportedly, the former actress cleared the exam after 5 attempts with rank AIR 167. As her first posting, she got to serve as the Assistant Commissioner of Mandya district of Karnataka.
Keerthana’s sincerity and determination helped her achieve her dreams, serving as a true example for others aspirants.
