The Honourable Ali Ehsassi | Prime Minister of Canada

The Honourable Ali Ehsassi was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Willowdale in 2015. He was re-elected in 2019 and 2021.

Minister Ehsassi has previously served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry (Innovation and Industry) and was also the Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development, in addition to being a member of numerous parliamentary committees, associations, and groups.

Born in Geneva and raised in New York City and Tehran, Minister Ehsassi moved to North York, Ontario, with his family in his early teens. Before entering politics, he worked as a lawyer in the private sector and as a public servant at the provincial and federal levels. A proven community leader, he has worked hard to strengthen the local economy, bring investments to local and sustainable infrastructure, and support Canada’s strong position on human rights around the world.

Minister Ehsassi holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School, a Master of Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Master of Laws from Georgetown University.
