A garden in Greater Manchester has been named one of the best in the UK to visit this Easter, according to a new study.
With warmer weather finally here gardens across the country are springing into life. Flowers are blooming, trees are adorned with blossoms and green shoots are sprouting from the earth.
It’s one of the best times of the year to visit a garden. They’re also great to visit if you’re looking for something to do with the kids over the Easter holidays.
Outdoor experts at Millets analysed various factors like admission costs, Google review scores and annual total number of visitors to rank the best gardens in the UK, each one receiving a score out of 10.
RHS Garden Bridgewater was the only garden in the north west to make the list, rounding off the top ten.
Attracting around nearly half a million visitors each year, the Worsley-based garden achieved a score of 7.49 out of 10 with a Google review score of 4.6 out of five.
Having opened in 2021, RHS Garden Bridgewater is one of the country’s newest gardens and the fifth RHS garden to open in the UK.
It saw the 154-acre site of the former Worsley New Hall estate transformed in what was one of the biggest hands-on horticultural projects undertaken in Europe.
It features beautifully designed formal gardens, including the Weston Walled Garden, which is one of the largest in the UK. There are also areas of woodland to explore and a lake you can walk around.
Other highlights include The Chinese Streamside Garden, home to the ornate Music Pavillion and the Paradise Garden.
Ranking in first place on the list was the Cambridge University Botanic Garden, which achieved a score of 9.94 out of 10.
The Horniman Museum and Gardens in London ranked in second place, while the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh came in third.
