Oddities, taxidermy and more will be on sale at one of Birmingham’s most strange and unusual spots
An alternative market selling taxidermy, jewellery, oddities and more is being held at one of Birmingham’s most unusual venues this weekend and on one Sunday a month for the rest of the year.
Merlin’s Cafe Bar, a horror-themed venue where it’s ‘Halloween all year round’ is playing host to the monthly Auld Omens Alternative Market on Sunday, March 3.
Auld Omens is a permanent stall in the Oasis Market (read more about them here ) and their own market includes a number of different sellers with an alternative edge.

Merlin’s Cafe Bar is in Martineau Place on Corporation Street and it will serve its ‘horror themed cocktails and gore-geous lunches’ while the market takes place.
The event begins at 12pm and runs until 6pm and will feature taxidermists, entomologists, alternative jewellers, body piercers, crystal sellers, tarot readers, oddities artists and more.
Auld Omens has become known for platforming unconventional traders and its monthly markets will be held on Sundays throughout the rest of 2025, will full dates available on the event section of its Facebook page.
If you can’t make it to this weekend’s event, the next alternative market will be held on Sunday, April 6 in the same location.
Merlin’s Cafe Bar opened to the public last summer and has become known for its pre-gig parties and alternative nights out.
Its food menu features chicken, burgers and light bites including wraps and mini pizzas.
It’s cocktail menu includes drinks such as a Vampire’s Kiss, a Babadook bramble and a Zombie.
