A group of five teenagers allegedly followed, robbed, and assaulted a man Thursday inside a Macy’s store in Downtown Crossing.

Two teens are facing assault and robbery charges after they allegedly assaulted a man Thursday in a Macy’s store at Downtown Crossing, Boston police said.
Just after 3 p.m., officers responded to the area of 450 Washington St for an assault and battery report. Macy’s loss prevention told officers that a group of five juveniles assaulted a victim in the store, according to a statement from the Boston Police Department.
The victim told officers that he was using the restroom when the group entered. The group followed the victim around the store and filmed him, police said.
The teens allegedly accosted the victim, harassing him, stealing his bag, and assaulting him by punching and kicking him multiple times, the department said. The victim refused medical treatment on the scene, according to police.
Officers were given a description of the group, which fled towards the nearby MBTA Red Line station.
After reviewing security footage and photos of the suspects, officers located two juvenile males matching the description, the department said. Officers approached the suspects and attempted to speak with them, according to police.
While one suspect complied, the other became combative and refused to answer officers’ questions. After police handcuffed him, he spat on an officer, police said.
One of the teens, a 14-year-old, is charged with unarmed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery. The other, a 16-year-old, is charged with unarmed robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and two counts of assault and battery.
Both suspects are expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court, police said.
