The California Highway Patrol apprehended a suspect who led officers on a pursuit through northern L.A. County, the San Fernando Valley, downtown Los Angeles and Exposition Park on Monday afternoon.
The target of the pursuit was a gray GMC truck that was allegedly stolen in Carson City, Nevada, the CHP said.
Another car was also reported stolen, but only the truck is the subject of the pursuit at this point, according to the CHP, as the other vehicle was stopped and its driver taken into custody at Lankershim and Cahuenga boulevards.
When Sky5 arrived over the pursuit at roughly 12:45 p.m., the driver was headed south on the 5 Freeway at speeds nearing 100 mph and often weaving between other vehicles.
A few minutes later, the driver transitioned onto the 2 Freeway, then the 134 before returning to the 5.

Shortly after 1 p.m., the driver exited the freeways and took to surface streets in downtown Los Angeles. After driving through DTLA for several minutes, the truck drove onto the southbound 110 Freeway.
“He’s essentially made his way down from north of the 126 Freeway and took the 5 all the way into the San Fernando Valley…he took the 2 Freeway for a time before getting back on the 5 and now the 110 Freeway,” Rich Prickett said just after 1 p.m.
The driver got off the 110 in the Exposition Park area near the University of Southern California campus. At least one CHP officer was directly behind the truck as it traveled at high speeds down Exposition Boulevard before losing control briefly on Vermont Avenue.

The driver fled on foot — leaving the truck in drive — near Halldale Avenue and Jefferson Boulevard.
CHP officers with their guns drawn quickly apprehended the suspect and took him into custody.
