Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar broke the Internet on Sunday night at the Dubai International Stadium, as he celebrated with child-like dance moves following India’s victory in the Champions Trophy. Led by Rohit Sharma, the men in blue triumphed over New Zealand by four wickets, securing their third ICC Champions Trophy after 2002 and 2013.
In the viral video, the 75-year-old breaks into dance as the Indian team arrived at the podium to receive the prestigious Champions Trophy after being presented with the traditional ‘white jacket.’ Presenter Mayanti Langer was left in splits, stepping aside from the camera to give viewers a clearer view of Gavaskar’s impromptu dance. Meanwhile, fellow panellist Robin Uthappa smiled while he pulled out his phone to capture the heartwarming moment.
“Who’s going to stop Sunny ji today?” Star Sports presenter Jatin Sapru asked as he watched Gavaskar’s dance moves. Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh responded, “We shouldn’t stop him today because this is a wonderful moment. It was fun to watch him. He is a legend and a respected cricketer. It was for him that we all started playing cricket. We were fortunate that those trophies were in our hands. And today, he is living that same feeling again.”
Sharing the video, the official handle of Star Sports India wrote, “𝘿𝙞𝙡 𝙩𝙤𝙝 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙘𝙝𝙖 𝙝𝙖𝙞 𝙟𝙞. Just a glimpse of Sunil Gavaskar’s passion and love for Indian cricket!”
