Stanley Tucci has revealed a controversial opinion – and it’s that he doesn’t think sweatpants should be worn in public.
The sophisticated actor, 63, is releasing a new book this month, called What I Ate in One Year (and Related Thoughts), which delves more into his daily meals and ponderings.
He shared more about his hot take in an extensive new interview with The Wall Street Journal published Monday, as the interviewer pointed out that he mentioned in the book that ‘adults dress too casually these days.’
The interviewer asked him what his least favorite thing was to see an adult wear in public – to which he responded sweatpants and a graphic tee shirt – among others.
‘A T-shirt emblazoned with some sort of weird saying or image,’ Tucci told the outlet.

‘Shorts that don’t fit properly. Sweatpants. Not just like, “Oh, I’ve been running, and now I’m just going to stop at the store,”‘ he continued.
‘You haven’t been running. You just wear sweatpants because you don’t want to wear pants.
‘I sound like such a snob, but I’m sorry, just put on a pair of pants, wear a belt, get a nice pair of shoes. It doesn’t cost a lot of money to dress nicely.’
Tucci, who has published a variety of cookbooks and starred on his own show, Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy, also revealed some of his favorite things to wear in the interview.
‘I like shoes,’ he told The WSJ.
‘I can’t stand being barefoot. I love wearing a suit, a jacket, a nice cardigan,’ he added.
And, as it turns out, there’s someone else out there that agrees with Tucci – and that’s TV writer Gary Janetti.
During a July appearance on ABC News, Janetti, who has gone viral for his hilarious memes about the royal family, revealed that he doesn’t like the way people dress for the airport anymore.

‘It looks like at the airport, too many people are on day five of the flu, like they’ve been in bed for a week,’ Janetti said during the television appearance.
‘How comfortable do you have to be to get on a three-hour flight?’ he continued, while totally rejecting the idea of wearing sweatpants on the plane.
He cracked that you could at least put on a shirt or pair of pants that buttons.
However, the Start Without Me author admitted that there was one exception to his no-sweatpants rule – and that’s an overnight flight.
‘I feel like you could put sweatpants on if you’re going to bed on the plane or something like that,’ he said at the time.
