Police arrested the woman on Thursday on the charge of murdering her six-month old son and trying to stab her former employer.
An officer said on Thursday evening, the Mumbai Police control room received a call about a woman trying to stab another woman in Tilak Nagar. The local police detained both the women and brought them to the police station.
When they questioned the arrested woman on why she was trying to stab the other woman, she told them that she had strangulated her six-month old son to death at their residence earlier in the day. The Tilak Nagar police alerted the Shivaji Nagar police that went to the woman’s residence and found the body of the six-month old boy.
The woman then told the police that she was suffering from a serious illness that could lead to her death. She said that she was twice divorced and was living with her parents and a married sibling, who were finding it difficult to finance her treatment. The woman herself was unemployed, an officer said.
Frustrated by her condition, the woman decided to kill her son as the illness had been passed on to him as well. Later she wanted to take revenge from her former employer who she felt was unfair to her. Accordingly, she went to her residence in Tilak Nagar to stab her on Thursday.
“During interrogation, she told us that she had planned to kill herself after killing her employer but we had nabbed her. We then registered a murder case against her and placed her under arrest,” the officer said.
