Sons beaten up at Faridabad gym, BJP MLA says issue ‘settled amicably’, cops say probe is on | Delhi News

After the Faridabad police booked a gym trainer and his associates for allegedly assaulting the sons of Haryana MLA Harendra Singh Ramratan, the BJP leader Sunday said the issue has been “settled amicably”.

The alleged attack on Hodal MLA Ramratan’s sons Vishal and Jagpriya occurred near Any Time Fitness at Sector 28 Friday evening, as per the Metro police station. The police said an altercation started when Vishal, the MLA’s younger son, was at the gym and had a disagreement with trainer Yogesh Chaprana regarding the location and arrangement of dumbbells.

Chaorana allegedly called his friends Aman, Deepak, and Nishant Honey, and pushed Vishal to the ground. Vishal called his brother to the spot. Both sustained injuries in the attack and were taken to Badshah Khan Hospital by their father, who had rushed to the scene, according to the police.

The police lodged an FIR based on Vishal’s complaint against Chaprana and his friends under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act as there were claims of casteist slurs during the fight. Chaprana claimed that Vishal had summoned not just his brother but 15 others to the gym, the police said.

Talking to The Indian Express, Ramratan, said, “The issue has been sorted out. The police will probe as per their process, but I made both sides sit down together on Saturday and resolve the issue.

The police, meanwhile, confirmed that no arrest has been made so far, and said the matter is not a major issue.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajiv Kumar said the police are carrying out an investigation as per usual procedures and will see what is to be done once both parties formally join the probe.

“Right now, we are in the process of getting the CCTV footage of the incident, and the probe is on. For now, we are going as per law since the FIR is registered. They might have settled the issue among themselves; it is not that big a matter,” he said.

The Hodal constituency in the Palwal district of Haryana was reserved for Scheduled Castes in the 2024 Assembly elections in Haryana. Ramratan became a first-time MLA by defeating Congress Congress heavyweight Udai Bhan.
