As Valentine’s Day approaches, so do the inevitable bad dates that come along with it.
And, on a Reddit thread simply titled Tinder Stories, one user recently described their horror dating story with a man more than twice her age.
‘I once met a guy on Tinder, he was older than me. I was late 20s, he was 50s,’ she began her candid post.
‘He seemed nice and looked okay for his age.’
The frustrated dater candidly continued: ‘I’m gonna be honest and say that I wasn’t being as selective as I probably should have been at the time because there were very slim pickings in my area at the time.’
She then went on to describe how the conversation flowed on the app before they met each other for the first time in person.
‘He chatted to me about how he was very wealthy and said he could even hire private planes etc.
‘I didn’t really believe all of this deep down, but I guess part of me wanted to believe it.’

The pair met up twice – the first of which was at a coffee shop.
‘He got there before me, so had already bought his coffee and I had to buy mine… which seemed strange as he was supposed to be so wealthy,’ she recalled.
‘It was also a little rude to not wait until I arrived before ordering his… but oh well.’
Their second date was at another coffee shop and he proceeded to order his coffee without waiting for her once again.
‘[After coffee] we went for a walk and he made desperate attempts to make out with me, wouldn’t give up,’ she said.
‘I gave in and let him kiss and touch me, etc. because I just wasn’t good at saying no at the time and was embarrassed.
‘He was very insistent about getting intimate really quickly and it was weird.’
But, once the two got back to his car, the situation became even more unsettling for the woman.

‘He took me into his Mercedes to make out and kept apologizing for having his “cheap car today,”‘ she wrote.
‘This was just odd because it was clearly a fairly new Mercedes… it definitely seemed like he was bullsh**ing.
‘He also kept going on about how he wished he could take me back to his to see his house, but that he couldn’t because he was currently having work done there to have a huge orangery added.’
And it was his constant protestations that set alarm bells ringing.
‘I eventually broke it off over message because I felt like he was completely lying about his life,’ she said.
However, the situation was worse than she could have imagined.
‘When I told one of my good friends about this whole encounter, she asked to see a pic of him,’ the user wrote.
‘She recognized him as being her sister’s best friend’s husband! It all unfolded as we got in touch with his wife to tell her what he had been up to.
‘Turns out that his friend was the one having an orangery put on his house, and that this guy had the keys to the house while he was away to check up on things.
‘The Mercedes he had been driving belonged to his friend, and he had been using it without his friend’s knowledge!
‘The wife also confirmed that he is in no way wealthy… he barely had a penny to his name and this was all a lie.
‘There was something so sinister about him and his lies.’
