Several feared trapped after house collapses in Delhi’s Karol Bagh; 7 people rescued | Delhi News

A house collapsed in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh area on Wednesday morning, trapping several people under its debris. While seven people have been pulled out, rescue operations are underway, according to officials.

Delhi Fire Services Chief Atul Garg said that after the force was informed about the collapse at 9:11 am, five fire-tenders were rushed to the spot at Bapa Nagar in Karol Bagh.

“It has been reported that some portions of the building collapsed and a few persons are suspected to be trapped under the debris. So more manpower is required,” Garg said.

Personnel of the National Disaster Response Force have also joined the rescue operations.

Harsh Vardhan, DCP (Central), said the building was old and around 25 square yards. “Seven persons have been rescued so far and it is feared some persons are trapped…local agencies are coordinating at the spot,” he said.

Aam Aadmi Party leader and chief minister-designate Atishi said in an X post that a magisterial inquiry was ordered into the incident and that all assistance would be provided to those injured.

“I have also spoken to the Municipal Corporation Mayor regarding the incident…there has been a lot of rainfall this year…if there is any possibility of an accident due to construction, inform the authorities,” she said.
