A desperate rescue operation is underway, as emergency services race against the clock to save a driver after a car plunged into the Parramatta River in Sydney.
The car was reportedly at a car park on Manns Pl in Greenwich when it accelerated, hitting a woman standing on the riverbank, and entering the river about 4.15pm on Monday.
The woman was rescued by passers-by, who called emergency services.

She was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital with a suspected broken ankle, bruises, abrasions and shock, according to police.
“The vehicle is yet to be located, and the driver remains unaccounted for,” they said.
“Officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command are being assisted at the scene by Water Police and the Dive Unit.”
