The latest Manchester United transfer news with Jadon Sancho a concrete option for Napoli, which could see him link back up with Scott McTominay.
Scott McTominay could soon be joined at Napoli by a Manchester United winger, but it is not Alejandro Garnacho. The Scotland international departed Old Trafford for Italy last summer and he played a key role in his new club winning the Scudetto.
He scored an impressive 13 goals from midfield with one of those coming in the 2-0 victory over Cagliari that sealed their Serie A title triumph on the final day. He also turned provider on six occasions with all of those coming in positive outcomes for Napoli and thus it was no surprise he won player of the season.
The 28-year-old, like many others before him, has seen the benefit of leaving the Premier League for an opportunity abroad with some other United stars perhaps looking to follow in his footsteps.
Both Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho are expected to leave the club this summer with the former hoping to seal his dream move to Barcelona. The Argentine meanwhile, is more inclined to stay in England and thus looks set to turn down a potential move to Napoli.
The new Italian champions and Chelsea were strongly linked to signing him in January, but he ended up staying at United.
Speaking of the Blues, the two Premier League clubs have been involved in quite an interesting transfer saga regarding Jadon Sancho. Despite moving to Stamford Bridge on a loan deal that included an obligation-to-buy, he has returned to United with a £5million punishment fee paid.
Unsurprisingly, a permanent exit for Sancho is expected and that could be where hope of a Man United reunion for McTominay goes. According to Sky Sports Italy, Sancho has said yes to joining Napoli with United demanding £21.4million (€25m) to sell. There is currently no agreement between the two clubs just yet.
However, as Conte wants a new winger and United would like to part ways with Sancho, it is unlikely any stumbling blocks emerge.
Given how well McTominay has done during his first season in Naples, it is perhaps no surprise that Sancho wants to join him. Any fee obtained will also likely go straight onto replacing him with a move for Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford being explored.
Tottenham, who appointed Thomas Frank earlier this month, are also in the race but United are currently ahead with Mbeumo making an Old Trafford switch his preference.
