In November 2024, the Labour Government announced plans to introduce a statutory levy on gambling operators. Some 20 per cent of the levy’s revenue will be directed to UK Research and Innovation, and the Gambling Commission, to “develop bespoke research programmes on gambling”, according to the House of Commons Library.
