The budget airline has said affected passengers will be notified, but travellers should also monitor the status of their flight.

It coincides with February half term, with many schools off this week while others break up today.

In a statement on its website, Ryanair said: “Potential disruptions to/from the UK (Fri 21 Feb) due to high winds.

“Affected passengers will be notified and any passengers travelling to/from the UK Fri 21 February should check their Ryanair app for the latest updates on their flight.

“We regret any inconvenience caused to passengers by these weather conditions, which are outside of Ryanair’s control and affect all airlines operating to/from the UK Fri 21 February.”

It comes as the Met Office warned that some areas may see gusts of 70mph, with gusts of 50-60mph “likely for exposed coasts and hills of western Britain”.

A warning for rain has been issued from 6am until 6pm for south-west and north-east Scotland on Friday, with forecasters predicting travel disruption, power cuts, and flooding.

Another warning for strong winds runs from 8am until 3pm for south-west Scotland and West Wales on Friday, while a yellow wind warning will be in place in the east of Northern Ireland from 6am to 1pm.

Despite predicting a mild start to Friday, the Met Office warned of heavy pulses of rain accompanied by gales around coastal areas and hills.

The Met Office has also issued three wind alerts and two rain warnings covering large parts of the UK on Sunday.

In a post on X, the weather agency shared an interactive map showing the spread of rain.

It added: “Wet and windy to kick off Friday.

“Heavy pulses of rain will be accompanied by gales around coasts and hills.”
