Russia Ukraine war: The United States agreed on Tuesday, March 11 to provide military assistance to Ukraine and share intelligence. This decision was made by the Trump administration after supporting Washington’s 30-day ceasefire.

According to media reports, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the USA will now present a proposal to Russia, and the ball is in Moscow’s court. After more than eight hours of talks with Ukrainian officials in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, he said, “We hope that Russia will respond ‘yes’ as soon as possible so that we can move to the second phase of this matter, which is the actual negotiations.”

Russia launched a full-scale attack on Ukraine three years ago. The current situation is that Russia is continuously advancing and has now occupied nearly one-fifth of Ukraine, including Crimea, which it annexed in 2014. Rubio stated that Washington wants to reach a full agreement with both Russia and Ukraine ‘as soon as possible.’

He said, ‘Every day this war continues, people on both sides of this conflict are dying and getting injured.’

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin had stated that he is ready to discuss a peace agreement, but he and his diplomats have repeatedly said that they are against a ceasefire and want an agreement that ensures Russia’s long-term security instead.

On January 20, Putin told his Security Council that ‘there should be no short-term ceasefire, nor should there be any kind of relief for reorganizing and rearming forces with the aim of continuing the conflict, but there should be long-term peace.’

He also denied any regional concessions and stated that Ukraine must completely withdraw from the four Ukrainian regions under Russian control. According to media reports, an influential Russian lawmaker said on Wednesday, March 12, ‘Any agreement must be understood in its entirety – but on our terms, not American terms.’
