Rohit Shetty addresses rift rumours with Shah Rukh Khan after Dilwale: ‘We decided to make our own films; loss bhi ho to…’ | Bollywood News

After their blockbuster collaboration with Chennai Express in 2013, Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty reunited for Dilwale (2015). However, the duo failed to recreate the same magic on the big screen. Since then, there have been rumours suggesting a rift between the actor and the filmmaker. Now, in a recent interview, Rohit has put an end to the speculations.

During a candid conversation with Komal Nahta on his Game Changers podcast, the Cirkus director denied the rumours of a feud between him and SRK after Dilwale’s poor box office performance as they haven’t worked together ever since. Clarifying that there’s no enmity between the two, he said, “Nahi aisa kuch nahi (There’s nothing like that).”

He added, “Ek respect hai humare beech me aur Dilwale ke baad ye hua ki immediately phir humne humare khud ki production house kholi. Humne decide kiya ki hum khud ki filmein banayenge. Agar loss bhi ho to humara ho, jabki loss nahi hua tha (We have mutual respect. We started our own production house after Dilwale. We decided to make our own films so that if we face a loss, it is on us. However, we did not face a loss in Dilwale).”

Rohit Shetty also shared that despite being a box office failure in India, Dilwale was a huge success overseas. It earned Rs 376.85 crore worldwide despite poor reviews. The film was produced by Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan under their production banner, Red Chillies Entertainment. Dilwale had a release clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani, featuring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra.

In the same interview, the filmmaker also opened up about his friendships in the film industry, revealing his close relationship with Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, and Deepika Padukone. He also recalled how Deepika shot the movie’s last schedule again while she was four months pregnant. “Relations like these are rarely made,” he said.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Shah Rukh Khan will next be seen in King, with his daughter Suhana Khan. On the other hand, Rohit Shetty’s last release Singham Again grossed well at the box office and received mixed reviews from the critics and audience.
