IKEA has recently announced that it will be relaunching some celebrated products from its archives specifically from the 60s, 70s, and 80s in the new Nytillverkad vintage collection. The Swedish furniture imprint highlights products including the Guide shell by Niels Gammelgaard from 1978 as well as two chairs by the same designer: the foldable Mofalla in metal and canvas materials and the Skålboda lounge chair.
Gammelgaard explained the process to Dezeen, noting “The fact that the past designs have stood the test of time is a testament to the durable materials we used, with products passed down through generations. Reproducing these designs today also proves the design is functional and timeless, and it’s so humbling to see them reach a new audience.”
