The Delhi Police on Friday launched the revamped ZIPNET website, aimed at enhancing inter-state coordination and public access to crime-related data. Commissioner of Police Sanjay Arora formally launched the platform at the Police Headquarters in the presence of senior officers.
ZIPNET (Zonal Integrated Police Network) is used by eight member states — Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, and Himachal Pradesh — for sharing data on crime, criminals, missing persons, and stolen property.
The updated website includes several technical and design improvements intended to improve usability and data retrieval, said officials.
Key enhancements include a modernised user interface designed for easier navigation, advanced search functionality for faster and more accurate data access, and bilingual accessibility to cater to a broader user base.
According to officials, these features aim to streamline the process of information-sharing among member states and improve public interaction with the platform.
The ZIPNET website also offers a range of citizen-centric services. These include access to databases on missing persons, unidentified dead bodies, unidentified persons found, stolen vehicles, unclaimed or seized vehicles, and missing mobile phones. These services are intended to assist both the public and law enforcement agencies in locating individuals and property across jurisdictions.
According to officials, the revamp is part of an effort to bring the platform in line with current technological standards and improve overall efficiency in crime tracking and investigation support.
