Punjab Issues Detailed Traffic Plans for New Year Celebrations

Punjab police have outlined detailed traffic management plans to ensure smooth road operations and public safety during New Year’s Eve celebrations. A large deployment of traffic wardens and police officers will address challenges such as one-wheeling, aerial firing, and reckless road behavior.

In Rawalpindi, over 800 traffic wardens will work alongside 6,600 police personnel to regulate traffic and enforce road safety measures. To prevent illegal activities, 32 special pickets have been established, with additional checkpoints set up in key areas. Patrolling units, including the Dolphin Force and Mohafaz Squad, will monitor roadways to ensure compliance and take strict action against violators.

In Lahore and other parts of Punjab, more than 25,000 personnel have been deployed for road safety and traffic regulation. Over 5,000 officers will be stationed in Lahore alone, supported by specialized units such as the Dolphin Squad and Punjab Highway Patrol. These teams will conduct enhanced patrolling on highways and major roads to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Authorities have stressed a zero-tolerance policy toward violations such as one-wheeling and illegal road usage, warning that violators will face arrests and FIRs. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious or illegal activities through the police helpline (15) to maintain peace and order during the celebrations.
