Primark is stocking a new perfume that is said to “smell like” a pricier alternative. Known for its affordable fashion, beauty and homeware, the high street giant may have just introduced a new crowd-pleaser.

The retailer’s PS… Pro Eau de Parfum 50ml in the scent Sandalwood Runaway looks similar to a style by designer brand Le Labo – but at a fraction of the cost. Shoppers can snag the Primark version for £8, while the high end version is currently priced at £170 online.

The perfumes are very similar, with almost identical bottle shapes and silver-toned lids. They also both feature a minimalist approach to their design.

However, there are some differences. The Primark scent features cardamon, iris and sandalwood, while the designer version has notes of leather and musk.

TikTok user Debbie (@beautyglowgirl) shared a clip of herself snapping up the perfume in stores. Her caption read: “I spotted this perfume in @Primark last week that looked a lot like one of my luxury favourites so I had to go back and try it out…”

In the video, Debbie is shown finding the product in stores before heading back to her office to try it. She said: “I think I’ve found a new perfume [alternative] in Primark so come with me back into store on the hottest day to try and find it. I spotted some new perfumes in store last week and one specifically that looked like my favourite Le Labo Santal 33 so let’s go find it again.

“I was really hoping it’s still in stock and it is, this is Sandalwood Runway and it’s £8 versus £170 for Le Labo, so I’m definitely gonna pick that up. They also had some other new ones, they had Electric Rose, they had Nomad Oasis and Savanna Breeze so I definitely need to try these out, for now though I’m just gonna get this one.

“I got back to the office after a hot tube ride – I definitely need a perfume and moment of truth – so it definitely smells like Santal 33 for sure, it’s not exactly the same, this is a little fresher and maybe more citrusy but I really like it definitely worth your money for only £8!”

The full Primark product description reads: “Say hello to PS… Pro Soul Reflections Eau de Parfum – your next signature scent. Blending cardamom, iris and sandalwood, it’s smooth, warm and just the right amount of bold.

“Great for day or night, this one’s perfect for adding a little edge to your everyday. Just spritz and go – easy. It’s travel friendly too, thanks to its compact 50ml bottle – say no more!”

The designer description states: “Smoky and alluring, the Santal 33 Eau de Parfum (50ml) is perfect for those who wish to adorn themselves in a musky scent. Inspired by the rugged, wide plains of the American West and indigo-blue night skies above, this fragrance boasts comforting and warm accords designed to stir the senses.

“With an earthy introduction that melds crackling notes of cardamon, iris and violet, it then falls onto a bed of leather and musk. You can count on it to linger in the air and on the skin, allowing you to make a memorable impression wherever you go…”

Primark’s PS… Pro Eau de Parfum 50ml in the scent Sandalwood Runaway comes in at £8, while Le Labo’s Santal 33 is priced at £170 online. This means shoppers could save around £162 by opting for the bargain version.

Customers can grab the Primark perfume, which also comes in Matcha Mood, in stores now. Shoppers can check availability at their nearest store here.
