One of the people involved was then allegedly ‘aggressive to a member of the public when challenged’
Police are investigating reports children “chased a sheep off a cliff”. Devon and Cornwall Police said they were investigating the alleged incident, which happened in the Polly Joke area near Newquay, Cornwall on Sunday, July 27.
According to the police, it was alleged that one of the individuals involved made hostile remarks towards another person who confronted them about their actions at the popular beauty spot.
A police spokesperson said: “We have been notified of a report of a sheep being chased over a cliff edge in the Polly Joke area near Newquay on Sunday 27 July.
“It was reported one of the individuals responsible was then aggressive to a member of the public when challenged,” reports the Mirror.
This comes after a social media post indicated that a father had watched his two sons chase a ewe over a cliff.
The social media post read: “When a couple of passers-by objected, he threatened to throw them over the cliff too. Nice chap.”
Additionally, the poster claimed to have later seen the man outside Trevornick Holiday Park, but the park has stated they do not believe the family were guests there.
Trevornick Holiday Park responded by saying: “We’re very sorry to hear about the sheep and we have personally spoken to the farmer, he is someone we know well.
“We don’t think these people are staying at Trevornick because they’re not wearing wrist bands but our management team are investigating just to double check.
“There’s a bus stop metres from where this photo is taken so we think they probably caught the bus from here.”
