Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday met newly confirmed Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard upon arrival in Washington DC ahead of bilateral talks with US President Donald Trump.
Gabbard was confirmed by the US Congress just hours ago on Wednesday.

“PM @narendramodi met with USA’s Director of National Intelligence, @TulsiGabbard in Washington DC. They discussed various aspects of the India-USA friendship,” the PMO posted.
Talking about the meeting, Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on X, “PM @narendramodi held a productive meeting with U.S. Director of National Intelligence @TulsiGabbard in Washington D.C. today.”

Gabbard is the first top American official to meet PM Modi, who is staying in Blair House. The Blair House is treated as the official guest accommodation of the US President.
Gabbard is Hindu by faith and has met PM Modi before when she has travelled to India in the past. PM Modi is expected to meet a string of top US officials and ministers, as well top business leaders. He is likely to meet Trump on Thursday afternoon local time.
While all eyes are set on PM Modi’s meeting with Trump, his meetings with key US officials will also be watched closely.
