PIA Announces Direct Flights Between Lahore and 2 Northern Area Destinations

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the launch of two-way flight operations from Lahore to Skardu and Gilgit starting March 31, 2025, as part of efforts to promote tourism in northern Pakistan.

According to PIA, flights on the Lahore-Gilgit route will operate twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays, while Lahore-Skardu flights will be available on Thursdays and Sundays. The airline has already begun final preparations to ensure smooth operations on these routes.

In a separate development, PIA is preparing to resume direct flight operations to the United Kingdom (UK). The airline has initiated arrangements to use Terminal 4 of London’s Heathrow Airport for its flights.

PIA management remains optimistic that the UK government will soon lift the ban on its operations. The UK’s Department for Transport (DFT) is expected to complete an audit of Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) before making a final decision.

Once the ban is lifted, PIA plans to restart direct flights from Islamabad to Manchester and London, using Boeing 777 aircraft.
