Police say a father-of-two on an evening walk with his family in Perth’s northern suburbs has been attacked by a stranger.
Witnesses said the altercation occurred after a car sped through a roundabout in Alkimos, almost hitting the 33-year old man.
Security camera footage shows the near-miss on Saturday evening, the father seemingly gesturing at or lightly tapping the car.
The driver then mounts a median strip and sets off on foot, followed closely by his passenger, after the man he almost hit.
A verbal altercation occurs as the victim is seen trying to walk away before he appears to be punched repeatedly in the head.
His wife and two children witnessed the attack.
“To punch the dad in front of the kids, it’s just idiotic, absolutely idiotic,” a nearby resident said.
The driver and his friend took off in a Toyota Seca.
Other neighbours along Wallasey Bend said just 10 minutes after the assault, they saw the green hatchback driving dangerously through narrow streets.
“He overtook me, skidded round the corner, and then as I was following my normal route he was speeding, speeding around all these other roundabouts,” Damon Barfoot said.
Police are investigating the assault and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
